Dear Friend of Heights Youth Theatre:

Consider yourself at home this season as Heights Youth Theatre (HYT) proudly presents our 2009-2010 season with a wonderful lineup and a new twist.  We have realized in this fast -paced economically challenging environment that collaboration and community involvement are key to the future success of HYT.

The current economic climate is significantly impacting our local theaters. Our goal is to continue to provide a low cost form of entertainment for all. There are many costs associated with producing and staging each of our productions.  Now more than ever, HYT relies on grants, sponsorships and the generosity of our individual donors to continue our mission to entertain, educate and inspire all who walk through our doors.   So when you make your tax-deductible contribution, we hope you will please keep this in mind.

HYT continues to provide a safe, educational, challenging, diverse and enjoyable place for youth ages 6-18 from this community, as well as outlying communities to join together for a common goal.  The end product is always truly amazing to see!

We open the season with Oliver!and food, glorious food.  Follow the escapades of the mischievous orphan Oliver through the streets of London where he encounters many colorful characters, including Fagan and his gang.  We are so pleased to welcome back to HYT director Nathaniel Motta, to once again bring his amazing talent and acute ability to engage and educate our actors. HYT will team up with the Heights Emergency Food Center and ask our loyal audience members to contribute to their cause by donating various needed food items or by making a cash donation.  Collaboration……

Green eggs and ham, Sam I am?   Horton hears a what?  Accompany the Cat in the Hat as we venture to the magical world of Seussical.  Sean Szaller, who brought us the memorable Godspell will rollick through the Who’s-its and What’s-its in this fun and exciting compilation of Dr. Seuss tales.  Once again, we will call on the generosity of our attendees to bring a new book to donate to Cleveland Reads.  The books we donate may be the first one received by many a child living right here in our area.  Community involvement…..

Our third show this season, Once on This Island, is a tale of love between the classes.  The calypso-flavoured re-telling of The Little Mermaid is a captivating legend of romance between a peasant girl and a rich city boy whom she saves from death. Leighann Niles Delorenzo, new to HYT this season, will bring her African dance expertise to our stage during this production. Once on This Island will be sure to become an audience favorite! Collaboration with The Rainey Institute is in the planning stages.

We thank you in advance for your generous support so we may continue to fulfill our mission for many years to come!  See you at the theater!

With much appreciation,
