About Heights Youth Theatre Make A Donation
Click here to download our Annual Fund Letter for the 2008-2009 season Dear Friend of Heights Youth Theatre: It seems like a lifetime ago when Heights Youth Theatre (HYT), a non-profit organization, first opened its doors in 1954. We did not have a store where you could find anything from pink lacrosse balls to a New York Times bestseller as well as fill a prescription, but you could have your birthday party at HYT! For those of us who grew up in Cleveland, we share many fond memories being up on that stage, or in the audience spending a Saturday afternoon seeing Peter Pan with a grandparent. Our theater has meant so much to so many people, and we need to keep these opportunities available for everyone, now, and in the future. Our 2008-2009 season will surely be one to please. We are welcoming back our three guest directors who brought their diverse talents and exciting repertoires to HYT last season: Nathaniel Motta will be opening the season with Fiddler on the Roof. Nathaniel is an established director, choreographer, teacher and conductor. Directing credits include Into the Woods, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Chicago, Anything Goes, Damn Yankees, Guys and Dolls, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Singin’ in the Rain. He holds degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and the Eastman School of Music. Currently he is the Upper School Music Director at Laurel School. Nathaniel directeda highly innovative staging of Wizard of Oz during our 2007-2008 season. Sean Szaller will be directing the second show of the season, Godspell. In the fall of 2007 he directed the extremely heartfelt Children of Eden. As an actor Sean has been seen on almost every professional stage in Northeast Ohio including Great Lakes Theater Festival, Cain Park, The Cleveland Orchestra, and the Beck Center. When not onstage, Sean is active as a choreographer, musical director, director, and stage manager. He attended Wright State University for training in Musical Theater. Since returning home from college he has taught private voice lessons and acting, and has served on the faculty of the Fairmount Performing Arts Camp. He is a member of Actors' Equity and relocated to New York in January 2008. Kris Comer will be directing the final show of the season, Disney’s High School Musical 2 (pending availability). She is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace’s renowned Musical Theatre program. Kris has appeared in shows at Kalliope Stage, the Cleveland Playhouse, and the Halle Theatre. She has been guiding students in theatre since 1991, most recently teaching the Triple Threat Kids class at Kalliope Stage and directed Annie in the fall of 2006 and Footloose last spring. We thank you in advance for your generous support so we may continue to fulfill our mission of entertaining, educating, and inspiring for many years to come! With much appreciation, Ellen Sindelar Mary Wilkinson
