Auditions for all youth in grades 1-12 will be held on:
Monday, August 26 AND Tuesday, August 27, 6:00 – 8:30 PM,, at
Wiley Middle School, 2181 Miramar Blvd #3301, University Heights, OH 44118
Please enter the school through the main glass doors near the roundabout. You Only need to attend ONE day of Auditions.
Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 6-9 PM by invitation only at Wiley Middle School.

Casting Information: All roles are available. HYT is committed to non-traditional casting. Actors will be cast solely based on talent, except in cases where age, race, or physical ability is essential to a role.

WHAT TO PREPARE:
Grades 1-5
Please learn the following lyrics from She's in Love:

"She acts like she don’t see me
She doesn’t even speak
She treats me like sashimi

-We will rehearse/practice the piece with a group of 1-5th graders called together, then have everyone sing as a group and individually.

Grades 6-12

One selection in the style of the show up to a minute in length (ie- one verse and one chorus).

Accompanist provided (no acapella singing) Bring complete sheet music and be sure the excerpt you will be singing is clearly marked where the excerpt starts and ends. Sheet Music for musical theater can be found online; if you have any issues finding your piece, please email HYTStagemanager@gmail.com and we will try to assist you if we can.
Everyone please bring a headshot or photo (Resume optional) and fill out the audition form, found above before coming to the audition. Also, please list all conflicts on the audition form or come prepared with your conflicts to complete a form at the auditions.

We will be looking for the following when you audition:

Listening skills and receptivity to feedback
-
Positive behavior
-
Ability to sing consistently on pitch and with expression

A solid sense of beat and rhythm

Overall preparation (knowledge of song and self-presentation)
Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, September 3, 6:00 PM. Rehearsals will be scheduled Monday - Friday, between 5:00 -9:00 pm. You will not be called every day, only when you are needed to work. Please note - there may be some weekend rehearsals scheduled.

Attendance at ALL tech week rehearsals, sitzprobe on October 10 (where the orchestra and cast will play and sing through the show), as well as all performances, are mandatory. Tech rehearsals begin on Thursday, October 10, 2024, and run through Thursday, October 17, 2024.
